Well time has really cheated us. A couple of weeks back we could hardly wait for this whole thing to arrive. Today I look back to an awesome week in reminiscence.
Six months of impatience, hard work and eagerness paid off in one single night. Having spent a wonderful time at Kalyani we had one thing in mind and that was Undergrind 2012 featuring Wormrot and few other kickass bands from the country. We were show caused many a times in our home soil and people often like hating us for our offstage attitude and onstage music which defines true underground metal. This was an "in your face" for all the critics around.
This was an opportunity which was taken up quite seriously by each and every band member. Practice and keeping our goal at stretch was very key prior to our gig. Now lets talk about the whole journey which has probably set a new route for us.
Monday 10th of April was supposed to be our last practice in Kolkata. Due to unavoidable circumstances we had to cancel the whole thing. We met up at our drummer's place and planned our proceedings accordingly.
Monday 11th of April was the day we left Kolkata and started our journey for the big thing. Since I, Debanjan Da and Abhinava Da stay very nearby we went to howrah together while Denzil and Ayushman started their journey from their respective houses. We met up at howrah station. We got up into the train and checked out our seats. The train departed around 11'o' clock. With a huge task in our hand we began our journey for the sickest fest in the country. No sooner we entered Orissa and further Andhra pradesh it started to get dark outside. The wind was very pleasant and it was time for us to make an ass out of our bass baba Ayushman Sinha. He was in a total mess and there was no way out for him. If I would have been at his place I would have literally jumped off the train. After a few game of cards our dinner was served and we got back to our respective beds. The wind was blowing hard and I felt we were getting close to Bangalore a bit faster.
Monday 12th of April and our excitement was doubled as we entered Tamil Nadu. We started our day with a phase of entertainment involving none other than our very own Ayushman Sinha. After finishing off with our lunch we started sorting out our packages. As soon as we reached our destination we were relieved to have been saved from a monotonous 29hour journey in train. We took a cab and went to a place called koramangala. Never expected these two guys pramodh and pranaw to welcome us with such level of gratitude. It was pranaw's place actually and he made sure we felt home out there. After a bit of refreshment we went out for the WISE GUY SHOP for all the t shirts we bought. The place was Brigade Road. We came back home, had a bit of drinks and snacks and slept.
Monday 13th of April showed no signs of complexity and tension. We were cool enough to get up around 12'o' clock. After having a wonderful lunch at a Punjabi Hotel we got ready for our last practice before Undergrind. The practice turned out to be a crucial one and we were very much satisfied with it. Post practice Deep da parted ways with us as we four planned to move around the city. We went to forum and the Manchester United bar. While we were returning we planned to try few different items including pani puri, alu puri and few other snacks. Post snacks we came across a pretty cheap juice shop which was liked by every one of us. It was as if we were mincing over roasted chicken. After our dinner we slept early with one thing in our mind that is "destroy kyra".
Monday 14th of April or we call it the judgement day came pretty soon and everyone looked fresh and berserk enough to bring down kyra. We reached Kyra around 3'o' clock when we found Perforated Limb sound checking. The whole place was in uproar and it was almost unfathomable to ignore the whole scenario. As soon as Semen commando finished off with their set list it was time for us to get up on stage in front of 200 plus true metalheads who were craving for some death metal. After checking our sound we kick started our list with a soundcheck. The list is somewhat like this:-

After running a roundabout 40mintues riot at Kyra we went off the stage making faces pale and making people hard to believe what we played. I want to individually comment on my band mates who had put in every drop of sweat to make it a success.
Ayushman Sinha - The man with the popular head out there was really impressive with his four stringed soul mate. Along with an impressive performance he was really key to our tightness.
Denzil Davidson - Performance Dude Performance. Tight playing along with prolific headbanging to some difficult guitar riffs. Take a bow dude.
Debanjan Chaudhuri - The genius behind our compositions which were a huge hit at the Undergrind. The guitar solos might have given goosebumps to all the people standing at the front row witnessing his fingers taking a tour across the guitar fret board.
Abhinava Shukla - Drummer. Enough Said.
After all the appreciation from the crowd we waited for Wormrot to take the stage. Mighty Wormrot made me succumb and I could hardly feel my blood flowing through my veins. I have absolutely no word to describe how mammoth of a band Wormrot is. After an epic day it was time for all the participating bands to get together and have dinner at the kyra itself.
Tired, fatigued and yet very much excited about what we performed, seen and experienced. With all that in mind we slept and it was time for us to leave. We left Bangalore with a lot of memories behind and special thanks goes to PRANAW CHHETRI and PRAMODH for making our life comfortable out there, You two are the best people we have met out there.
